Saturday evening started out very cloudy. After the clouds dissipated, haze
dominated the sky. Eventually the haze cleared, but by then everything was
wet with dew. Soon after that, the moon appeared on the scene and spoiled
everything. In spite of the many obstacles, I was able to capture this rather
well framed image of the Rosette Nebula. The picture is a stacking of ten
2-minute exposures with the camera looking through a 300mm Nikkor ED camera
lens @ f/5.6. The overall field of view is 1¾° wide by 1¼° high.
I know that the center of the nebula is suppose to have a lot of green light
from the bright Forbidden Oxygen line, but I was unable to see much of
it last night. Maybe the poor seeing conditions hampered my view of the sky.
Still, I am pleased to have [finally] captured the entire nebula in a single
picture.
